The Best Laid Plans ....

I had the whole two days organized, every time slot accounted for.  Every single thing I needed done was scheduled a place and time to make it happen.  Don't ya know, it all fell apart.

In fact, it was my desk chair that fell apart.  I sat down in it and was reaching for my keyboard when it bit the dust.  I ended up only a few inches from the floor with my knees tucked under my chin. Per Jared, this time, it wasn't fixable.  We had a short funeral for the chair and buried it next to it's brother, the one that broke four months ago.  (Ok, I'm fibbing about the funeral and burial.)

Jared and I hit two stores, and after begging my wallet to cough it up, I came home with a new chair.  It's leather, padded all over the place, and so comfortable that I hope I can stay awake sitting in it long enough to get some work done.  And, it rolls around on the hardwood floor in my room realllllly fast!!  Much faster than the last two and the ride is way less bumpy!!

Anyway, I was able to finish at least one of the two articles that are on my 'must get done immediately' list.  The interview with Tobias went great and his article turned out pretty good too.  One down, one to go.

Don Proctor - Associate Technical Advisor.
Blessed with patience and fluent in blonde.

Don Proctor, my friend who is always accomodating, agreed to come to my side of DFW, rather than vice versa (as originally planned) because I still had two loads of laundry to do and wasn't finished with the final edit on Tobias' story.  We went out for an ultra-extravagant dinner at Chicken Express.  When we got back, we discussed politics, then writing, the websites, made a decision regarding my own domaine, and he also gave me a tour of my smart phone.  It can now do lots more than it could before because I know which buttons to push!

As well as being a retired military officer, a former military aircraft engineer, and currently a software engineer, Don's also a writer.  Yes, it's very cool to have mulit-talented friends.  He has some short story works due to be published soon.  He also has an affinity for skinny-tire cycling.  I continue to try to convert him to the fat-tire clan, but so far, the man just won't listen.  I said he was multi-talented, not perfect.  (Teasing, Don ... )

My plans were fouled, but I was able to recover and complete half of what I'd set out to do.  Onward and upward, the rest is on the way.  And, last but not least!  You know you're in Kentucky when you see Mary in a Bathtub!!

Poor thing's all crooked!
This one's kinda cool and
I'm not even Catholic.

These things are beginning to grow on me.
This one  - it might be cemetery quality.
Kentucky-cemetery quality.
Ok, enough with the bath-tub Madonnas.  It's true that they're very popular in Kentucky.  A fellow-Kentuckian informed me of this.  I'd been seeing them, but had no clue they were bathtub shrines.  I also had no clue there was such a large Catholic community in Kentucky.  Now I know. :)

There are even entire blogs devoted to these things.  They don't qualify for 'pop culture', but they should definitely qualify for something, right?

I'm all done poking a bit of fun at my Kentucky-bretheren and sisteren (is that a word????)

On to the Pack Rides blog!  Nee's got new wheels and I've got pix of it!  Heading that way for note & post!

See you there!
